A non-governmental organization that started in 2004 for purposes of Improving lives for people with special needs in Uganda through social, economic, and advocacy with special emphasis on young girls and women with disabilities in Uganda. FWD is focused on addressing inadequacies in Young girls and women with disabilities through establishing and maintaining developmental programs in areas of Health, Education, life skills, and empowerment and promote the identification, inclusion, integration and assimilation of human rights issues affecting, girls and women with disabilities in Uganda
Improving the quality life of people with special needs in Uganda by developing and implementing highly innovative programs and projects in all social aspects of life through modern management styles.
To promote and foster social and economic advancement of young girls and Women with Disabilities access resources and opportunities to enable them achieve their full potentials
Aims and objectives
Mobilizing young girls and women with disabilities (WWDs) for collective action to improve on the social and economic situation of Women with disabilities through access to income generating projects, seek for opportunities not sympathy. Raising awareness about HIV/AIDS needs, problems, limitations and potentials of young girls and Women with Disabilities so as to advocate for Rights; Promoting and influence the delivery of social and economic services like education and skills for young girls and women with disabilities I.e. (ICT, vocational skills, sports etc.) through networking and collaborating with Governmental and NGOs individuals and institutions .
We have managed to execute numerous projects for young girls and women with disabilities in areas of Health/WASH, Economic empowerment, Youth & Women Skills Development Education & Technology, Human Rights & Advocacy, Climate Change & Biodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Agriculture promotion
Management and staffing structure at FWD is composed of Board of Directors, Executive Committee, Senior Staff Members and Volunteers. The organization currently employs over 400 members, on both full, part-time and a team of volunteers who take part tirelessly in/on each and every activity on behalf of the organization. The program activities are coordinated and monitored by the Project Coordinators and Administrative Assistant.
